Writing Journey…

As most of you know, I am writing a book on silverglass. No…not another E-book ( but a printed book ) and NO, not more ways to cheat with silverglass by using bright colors as a base ( backing color ) But Pure Silverglass and how to achieve color from it.Not just a selection of colors but ALL regular colors of ALL brands. Budget tips etc.

But… playing and working with silverglass is fun. However doing mainly technical stuff such as color reactions, flame settings, different techniques etc. You sometimes crave for alternation.

My escape has been making blown hollow beads ( pressed and decorated ) and with all the feedback I have been getting… I just thought it would be nice to photograph it and put it in an E-book.

So, that being said, I started working on it and am half way done. I am offering the E-book as a Pre-Sale for $20,- ( reg. price will be $25,- ) the Release date is April 1th. :)

Bead Soup – All in 1

I know I should have posted a picture of the focal, beads & supplies I received. But live took over and running my bussiness, taking care of the family and writing my book… well it made me forgot to post my post… Please forgive me.

So I am going to write this post backwards. Starting with what I made and ending with what I received. Confusing??? NO, not at all, slightly different? YES, but hey that’s just how I am.

So… I have a little confession to make before I show the pictures. I was so happy with all the supplies I got from my partner Ewa. Startign designing straight away. I was full with ideas…WAS… after making the bracelets I made 9 different necklace designs using the focal and all the other supplies and just was’t liking the design. Strange as I love working with natural materials such as the jasper beads, shells and agate.

Last minute stress, sending Lori an e-mail. She told me not to worry, and that it is not the first time a participant has a designing block.

Ok, ready to se what I made so far?

This is the entire beadsoup pack I received;

Bead Soup Blog Party

YEAH, I am one of the lucky participants in the Bead Soup Blog Party. A cool colaboration between artistst worldwide, using different techniques such as lampwork, seedbeading, cereamics etc.

My partner in my very first Bead Soup Blog Party is Ewa Kovacs from Hungary. She is a very talented seedbeader.

What is Bead Soup Blog Party; it is a way to think outside the box. I will be sending my partner Ewa a special clasp, a focal bead and some spacers to go with it. It doesn’ t all have the be handmade by me, it does not have to be all in glass etc. Ewa will receive this kit and has to think of new ways and ideas to design a beautiful piece of jewelry, using the items I send to her.

Ewa will be sending me a supply kit as well, which I will turn into a necklace or other jewelry.

Come back often to follow this project :)

New beads on Etsy

I just listed a bunch of new beads on etsy. And I am very excited to find out what you all think about my ACS beadcharms that will fit on all the commercial charm jewelry such as Pandora & Trollbeads.

They are all one of a kind, I could make a similar bead with different color cubic zirconia’s but I will not remake a bead for a different customer. They will always be different.

So please visit my etsy shop www.feng.etsy.com

Blown Hollow beads have taken over

My my my…. I have never liked making dot beads. Or at least not those dot beads where they all need to be perfectly aligned, perfectly spaced and perfectly in size….

But ever since I have been making blown hollow beads, the dots took over and I got carried away. They are just soooo much fun to make! And with the silverglass they look so sparkly and elegant.

These are just a couple of them which I turned into cute pendants.

Going back to my roots?

Last year, I had been thinking about making more jewelry again in 2012. But wasn’t sure what to do. I sell my jewlery in my shop, but I live in a small town…. I was asking myself, should I list my jewelry on etsy or on Ebay. If I would list them on etsy should it be in a separate shop or not? Would it be worth to try? Hmmmm I was uncertain.

BUT… on Saturday 31 December, to phone of the rang. Asking if we had special opening ours for that day. Late that day a lovely couple came to the shop, I have seen her before at my lampwork demonstration in the Library.

They left after purchasing a necklace as a gift for his mother, silverglass donuts strung ( pearl knotted) on a handmade silk ribbon and a bead for her Trollbeads necklace. 30 minutes later the phone rang. Asking me if I could make another necklace as she was loving it so much and wanted one for herself too. I said of course I can.

That same day I got a request true etsy if I could turn some of my beads into a bracelet… WOW 1 sale and 2 request on 1 day… hmmm is that a sign?

So 2011 ended with selling jewelry & getting 2 custom jewelry orders. ..

Artclay class

Sunday I had a artclay silver class with my friend Lissette @ Precious Art. We had to get up pretty early as we had a long drive ahead of us.

After we arrived and had are chat with Anita ( the teacher and also a friend ) we started the class with lots and lots of information. We made some first pieces with “waterbased” clay to get an idea of what we wanted to make. After lunch it was time for the real deal. And we both made some trollbeads / pandora style beads.

I am verry pleased with the results and we already scheduled our next class, but this time it will be silversmithing :) YEAH!!!
